On a 1.2-hectare smallholding in a tiny town called Kalbaskraal, near Malmesbury, is an exotic bird farm. The birds include 27 different waterfowl (90% of these are two to three breeding pairs), 12 different pheasants, eight different bantams, striking pigeons, guinea fowl, peacocks, flamingos and even three springbok; Paris, Hilton and Nikki! There are also seven types of exotic birds – of which the Scarlet Macaw is the most endangered.
